biography
Sara Owens is a Seattle based artist with a background in metals. She is interested in transforming found objects including bones, used coffee filters, sink drain filters, etc.
Sara graduated from the University of Washington with her BFA in Metal Design. She was selected to receive the 2008 Rabinovitch Purchase Award for her pieces, Effloresco tumeo and Orbis oscle, which will be added to the permanent collection of the University of Washington. Her work was also included in 5X5, an exhibition at Grey Gallery, Seattle, WA which featured 5 Seattle emerging artists' works curated by 5 national curators. As a new graduate, Sara will continue her material exploration in jewelry making, sculpture and fiber arts. She is currently finding inspiration as an intern at Five Acre Farm on Whidbey Island, WA, where she is learning how to sustainably grow high quality produce.
